Miler Lagos

EN

From September 1 to October 20, 2026, Miler Lagos is participating in a seven-week residency at DC Art Foundation in Miami, Florida, as the institution’s sixteenth resident artist.

During this period, Lagos is developing a new phase of research and production around some of the central concerns of his practice, including the relationships between nature and humanity, memory, transformation, and permanence. Through sculpture and installation, his work explores the ways in which human intervention transforms natural systems, establishing dialogues between the ephemeral and the permanent, the natural and the constructed.

The residency at DC Art Foundation provides a space for research, experimentation, and the development of new works, in dialogue with the context of Miami and with the material processes that characterize the artist’s practice.

Through this residency, Miler Lagos continues an international trajectory that has included residency programs at institutions such as Gasworks in London, Location One in New York, and AB Projects in Canada, as well as participation in biennials and exhibitions in diverse international contexts.

INVITATION

EN

Join us next Tuesday, October 13, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. for an exhibition and conversation with our current artist-in-residence, Colombian artist Miler Lagos, and professor and curator Carol Damian, Ph.D.
Miler’s work examines how human intervention alters natural systems, questioning our role within their delicate balance. Through sculpture and installation, he combines industrial materials with artisanal processes, creating a dialogue between the ephemeral and the enduring, the natural and the constructed.

Carol Damian, Ph.D., is a Professor of Art History, formerly in the School of Art and Art History, and former Director and Chief Curator of the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University (2008–2014). Dr. Damian is the Curator of the Kislak Collection at Miami Dade College’s Freedom Tower and the Curator of the Chapel of La Merced at Corpus Christi Church in Miami. She currently serves as Chair of the Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places Trust.
We look forward to welcoming you all!
